Rowan will be 13 this summer. time has flown by..I am so proud of him!

This year he joined sea cadets , a dream come true for me as I loved cadets and hold those memories and experiences

very close to my heart

It's been a long time since I've blogged about Rowan

He is not fond of my hobby as much as he used to be...

getting to that age where He thinks We don't know anything about being cool, So heres a few shots from this past while..I will include his mug shot! haha we bleached his hair as I promised if he got all B's on his report card

stunning isn't she...

I am so thrilled to say I was the photographer for my 1st cousins wedding,

most people have a lot of cousins, but since our mom was an only child, we have only five..my Dad had 3 sisters, one who had 2 sons my first cousins...boys, my sister and I dreamed of a little girl who we could play paper dolls with at our Grammie's house, and when I was nine it happened

a pretty little blond girl was ours to call our own, (on weekends at Grammie's at least:) years later my other aunt had 2 girls too, sadly they live in Texas we see them once a year (our age difference is big they played with my son, in the summers)
Mrs M and I are the only cousins blessed with our Grampies, uncountable freckles (a curse I thought) but she was so cute with them. I met her husband in high school long before she knew him, he was cute then, and not much changed through the years. Im thrilled they found each other, you can see their love from across a room, they really are a perfect match. My daughter was also flower girl, and I was tickled pink . Mrs M's ladies were gorgeous, just like her and the wedding was fantastic, Im honored to be chosen to capture their special day

hope you all enjoy the moments I caught...
but most of all I want to welcome her husband to our family

and I wish Mr and Mrs M a lifetime of happiness together

{and MANY children}!!!!!

Tiernee my only daughter is growing up...

It really seems like yesterday that I found out I was having a girl, I won't lie..ever since I was a child I dreamed of a little girl to play barbies with, to dress up like princesses and so many more moments we would share, Having a wonderful son who is 7 years older, made her comming even more exciting for all of us, A million dollar family, a boy and girl , we decided we had been blessed so I had my tubes tied during her planned C-section birth, though God had other plans for us as some of you know, she was 18 months when Keltan our miracle son was born. Of course each child holds a special piece of my heart, Rowan my oldest, clever , funny, determined and of course spoiled as he and I were alone for most of his life. Tiernee , she sparkles with girliness, ringlets and tutus, an artist and tenderhearted I would never have stopped having children till my pink baby arrived...then Keltan our gift, all boy , rough , tough, and silly, loves to snuggle , and gives the greatest hugs, knows the names of every dinosaur you can imagine, a joker and loved so by his siblings. So as you can see all 3 are so special to me, though Tiernee and I are outnumbered here by boys,we can make it together...next week she will starrt kindergarten! {SOB} how this happened so fast, I'm not sure... Rowan also starts middle school...12 years old on August 30th, ( to be blogged soon)

So Keltan and I will be alone in the day together for the first time, each of the others had that time, so its his turn now, till next year when he too will start school. Im going to miss Tiernee so much the next few months as she starts her new path in life, and Im proud at how confident and ready she is, excited and Mommy is nervous, though she can't wait....I know she will love it, but for us the house will seem empty, if you could see the tears welled up in my eues as i type, she is a big girl now, beautiful, wonderful

and I could not be more proud to call her MY daughter....

I am biased but shes just gorgeous:)

these are things about me
I thought I should share
more,
be more personal in my blog,
so here is my first entry about me
enjoy:) it was fun
seeing through my lens is like having a new sense of viewing the universe, I love my family with my whole heart
laughing loud, feeling love, sharing joy these are the things that lift me up
bubble baths, holding hand with my soul mate, bear hugs and sloppy kisses from my 3 kids, are things I crave yet never go without
life is a playground and I capture the moments, we all treasure
I'm a great listener, advice giver, and silly example creator,
Red makes feel alive
I had a wicked temper and my love is fierce I cry at movies and even commercials sometimes
chocolate is my enemy (true friend) I believe coffee needs hazelnut and lots of sugars
I wrote poerty for 15 years
painted and drew for over 10, but have never felt passion for anything activity like I do for photography
I was an army cadet and with them traveled across Canada and through Europe
I never imagined being booked for an international wedding (and I mean in my wildest dreams!!)
I would have pictured my life unlike the one I have,
I LOVE my job how cool is that?
I believe forgiveness sets us free, I thrive when learning new things
I read a book every night before bed, I am a typical; redhead, fiesty, funny, fierce, friendly and fabulous
WE all need to love ourselves before true love can ever begin
I dance when no one is watching, and sing even when people are listening
Fall is my favorite season, Im a true believer in miracles, I'm very absent minded and really clumsy
I am independant, strong and loyal, I am not afraid to voice my opinion (even one shared by few)
I am a leader and tread my own path to follow in this life,
thunder storms excite me, like amusement rides
weddings make me cry, I cry from joy allot (that's a gift from having children)
I have witnessed the miracle of life 5 times now!! my 3 and my sisters 2 babies births this was an honor I will never forget,
I love my parents, my favorite memories were summer vacations through the U.S. in our travel trailer
having a garden is important to me,
a long talk with friends feeds my soul,
I could not see my life without my sister
my grandmother means the world to me, she has helped me more times than I will ever be able to repay
I loved vampire stories 10 years ago I finished Anne Rice many chronicles, and love them , no comparison twilight lovers
I am enthralled at having a daughter, will my awe ever fade?
I think not ringlets and tutus, tiaras and barbies these are still a few of my favorite things
I try to give something of myself to another everyday..I wish we all did
this was just random ramblings
of bits and pieces
of the person I am, was , and who I dream of becoming

I must start out by expressing my bliss,

my photo being IN THE TOP 10 last challenge !!!

I am humbled and Oh so thrilled to have been chosen.

This weeks challenge is about
dramatic B & W conversions

I had a very hard time sorting and finding just one this round

(I had many I loved)

I decided on a photo of my miracle baby
born 18 months after our daughter....
did I mention
my tubes were tied during her birth??
Pregnancy is dangerous (life threatening)
without blood thinning injections twice daily for 11 months
since we beat the odds twice and had a million dollar family
(boy and girl) we felt blessed
our family complete,,,
God had other plans than our agenda
WE were given a gift ... a miracle baby boy

(not so little anymore) 3 years has flown by

it is his sparkly eyes in this image that make me melt,
his fly away curls, his innocence,
I love it so I hope you will too!

by giving hope

I will be doing my 1st session (a old friend of mine)

is fighting breast cancer

she is a funny , loving, optimistic Mom and wife and a real fighter!

How this works is , I come spend a day with your family, we can go to a park, stay at your home and bake cookies, play dress up , make crafts or many other things, ( I am also more than willing to visit at the hospital if need be). As you know my best photos are candid, capturing people for who they are and the love they share with each other, I am not a fan of posed Cheese pics!

The reason for this venture for me is to share the strength of families by telling their stories

along with their photos

this is part of the shoot,

I want to get to know you all and learn about your illness,

what has given you hope,,the strength to fight everyday

these stories of courage

will be posted on my blog and Facebook
I want to inspire other families who are suffering , too

that we all can believe, hope, dream, and fight!

Every month I try to Learn some new photography skills. or photoshop tips, this month I choose adding textures to my photos as my lesson.It's so much easier than I thought it would be!
so here's my first few tries at applying a texture layer and 2 styles for each edit.

Ok so ive been a bad blogger these days, winter always makes me a tad less ambitious its cold here in Canada:P
but I did join an amazing site called I heart faces
I've been stopping in there quite a bit for inspiration and to learn new things so yesterday I finally became a member, they have weekly contests, challenges and themes and for some it means I will have to blog more to compete in, so that's another bonus!!
look forward to these challenges joining in the forums, making friends and being totally inspired by lots of the members knowledge and skill, let alone raw talent :) I'm challenging myself to do the tutorials and keep my personal growth to the highest standard I want to learn so much more:)

I must say , I'm thrilled with her romantic sensual photos:) for a girl who is not a model, she totally should be!
the more photos I process, the more I find that are fantastic captures of her different personalities, every person has many sides of themselves but never have I worked with a woman so comfortable with who she is, and could portray it so well to the camera... needless to say I'm doing another session with her this weekend:D

I have seen many photographers take shots of the mom to be holding their ultrasound photo, but as of yet I haden't seen anyone add the baby into the photo, so i created a PS brush tool of her ultrasound and voila! we have a real image of how her baby would look in her belly:)
CAN YOU FEEL MY EXCITEMENT?? I cannot wait for newborn photoshoots, and to smell that new baby smell, and just to hold her in my arms...10 weeks now!

had a shoot at the beach with a fantastic, fun model, she was wonderful to work with, and patient with me as I'm getting ready for the DOMINICAN WEDDING:D I have been booked for in 3 weeks now:)
So Miss K was a fantastic sport with our demands (I brought along a mentor for tips) and I learned alot, and got some Fab shots..if I do say so myself:P

It's very rare for me to capture Miss T and Mr K in the same place at the same time... and though 18 months apart , Mr K is almost as big as she is already! so when the fights do erupt they are almost even:P it seems like yesterday they were babies and now at 4 and almost 3 they are such little characters with wit, and determination of the likes iIve never seen, so different they are, and yet so alike...I love them so much some days I feel my heart could explode from the joy they all bring in our lives.

soo my camera did not get wet... I made it this time without incident:P she loves to spray and its hard to control a 4 year old with a full pressure hose! she got Mr T wet but he was ready this time so no complaints on his part...all smiles and sun in our province...here comes the Hurricane but were ready... I had no bookings this weekend by chance .. lucky me

I have chosen a name PHAEDRA PHOTOGRAPHY
the definition of photography is 'to write with light'
Phaedra is an Ancient Greek name meaning ‘the beautiful, the bright, the shiny one’. It is related to a verb that means ‘to shine light on’
I thought Phaedra to (shine light on ) would be a perfect name to describe my work
To me, photography is an art of observation. It's about finding something interesting in an ordinary place...
I've found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.
There is only you and your camera. The limitations in your photography are in yourself,
for what we see is what we are.
Photography records the emotion written on the human face, the beauty of the earth and skies that man has inherited, and the wealth and confusion man has created.
It is a major force in explaining HUMANITY
What you have caught in your photo is captured forever... it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.You need less imagination to be a painter because you can invent things.
But in photography everything is so ordinary; it takes a lot of looking before you learn to see the extraordinary.It's never been about the gear. It's always been about seeing something, knowing how you want it to look, and making it so. Making it so is the easy part; seeing it in the first place is what makes a photographer. Powers of observation are everything. Snapping a camera is trivial.
Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still. The greatest joy to me is you get to share a captured moment with other people.I see something special and show it to the camera.
A picture is produced. The moment is held until someone sees it. Then it is theirs
